She was expelled from a Swiss private school due to "a daffodil accident", and subsequently schooled at home by the housekeeper, Mrs. White. Orchid obtained her Ph.D in biology, studying plant toxicity, and discovered a new plant of great properties but would not share her research with anyone.
Dr. Orchid is represented by a shocking pink (or fuschia pink, if you prefer) game token.
In its main Cluedo page, Wikipedia describes Dr. Orchid as "a new, one–time character". On its List of Cluedo Characters page however, it says "In 2016, Hasbro released a revamped edition of Clue/Cluedo, featuring a new character taking the place of Mrs. White. Dr. Orchid ..."
("Clue" is the American name for Cluedo.)
Other sources (e.g. The Grauniad) agree with the latter interpretation, treating Dr. Orchid as a permanent replacement for Mrs. White.
